Warning!!!! This site was constructed late in evening after sitting in front of my computer completing my regular nerd activities. There may be a few errors posted or actually it may just be completely wrong as my mind is not always normal! Just ask my former students. Read at your own risk.
Despite what you might think about me I was born into a completely normal family with normal parents and a brother. I was born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana about 15 minutes from Notre Dame. Yes, I support the gold and blue and I also support the Hoosiers!!!! Life was somewhat normal in my first couple years here on Earth. A loving pack of monkeys grabbed me by the tail and took me high into the trees to live. There they cleansed me of bugs and fed me bananas and termites from trees. It was there that I learned my alphabet in sign language and learned to be laid back and patient.
Finally, I proved too large for the trees and made my way into school at the age of hairy armpits. I was adopted by a family of turtles who took great pleasure in coffee. That is why you will see me drinking coffee all day everyday and usually it is from Starbucks or Trader Joe's. Mommy Turtle taught me to drink the best and to always grind my own beans.
Eventually I graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School and continued my education at Ashford University in Clinton, IA(that is how I made my way to Iowa). It was there that I pursued my teaching degree and I also played basketball. My junior year we made it to Nationals. I never smelled such delicious scents as I did in my years in Clinton. I met my wife in college and we both were very fortunate to find teaching jobs in the Quad Cities.
My wife teaches at Pleasant Valley Junior High teaching math. I am here at Bettendorf. We have three unbelievable and awesome children named Aiden and Addyson. Aiden was born on New Year's Eve and Addyson was born on December 8th. December is very busy with my birthday on the 10th and the holidays. Aiden will be 7 and Addy will be 4 this December. We welcomed Ava to our world this year as well to round out the Maurer clan.
Below is some additional information about me if you really care. Most people don't, but if you are bored one day asking yourself, "Why do turtles like coffee?", then you may read the rest.....
