Book Review: Sweet Farts

Sweet Farts
by Raymond Bean

*book acquired from the library*

This is a book that I had to pick up and read when I read the title. How could you not be interested in a book about farting? A clever title with the play on words of a great candy.

Here is brief synopsis of the book from Amazon

Someone has been farting up a storm at school and everyone thinks Keith Emerson is to blame. Unfortunately for Keith, it has earned him the nickname "S.B.D." (silent but deadly). To make matters worse, Keith's dad is a self proclaimed "Fart Machine" who really stinks it up at home. With the science fair quickly approaching, Keith decides he has had enough. He comes up with a science fair project idea to turn the foul smell of human gas into something sweet smelling. The idea lands him in the principal's office, and in big trouble with his mom. With the help of his little sister Emma, his dad, his crazy grandma, and Benjamin Franklin (great American scientist), Keith will attempt to make the greatest scientific discovery of all time, the cure for the common fart.

This was a fast read. It was only around 140 pages. This is not a high level read. You do not need to think while reading. There is nothing that is amazing or confusing. It is a book about farting and what happens when you deal with farts for a science experiment. I thought it was a humorous book. The ending was completely cheesy, but what book isn't that is geared for the age level of 8-12? This was another light, easy read, but quite fun. If you like farting and know someone who farts all the time(like maybe your dad or mom or sister or YOU!), then check this book out. There is even history included as Ben Franklin really did try to solve the problem of farting back in the day. Now that is something you don't learn in school! This book brought back memories of being in junior high and blaming people for farting. I will never forget the time in 7th grade math class when.......(like I would tell you that story here!)
