How Often Do You Text?

How Often Do You Text?

A new study shows that teens send and receive an average of 2,272 texts per month, which breaks down to about 80 texts per day... which is like of 10 texts per hour, or one text every six minutes.

The number seems a little high to us, but researchers for the Nielsen Company looked at over 40,000 monthly mobile bills to get the average stats, which concluded that teens literally "text in the morning before they brush their teeth and continue late into the night with the last text messages sneaked in under the covers right before they close their eyes to sleep."

And while texting has become as part of normal everyday life, a report in the New York Times says physicians and psychologists worry that compulsive texting can lead to anxiety, distraction in school, falling grades, stress and sleep deprivation. A 15-year-old girl in Maryland even reported painful thumb cramping from too much texting so she switched to an iPhone so she could text on a touch screen instead.

I thought I would post the same poll as the website to see what the results would be here for my fellow nerd clansmen and students at my school. So go ahead and place your texting habits into the poll located in the sidebar. Don't forget that you can always share your ideas and thoughts by posting a comment.

The poll question is "How often do you text?"

Thank you for the kind words about my blog. I find it interesting how it has taken on its own "personality" as it has progressed this year. In essence I guess it is me in online form. Your blog is one that I almost every day and you do some nice work as well.
