61 Days Remaining - Taper Week - 6B46

My training plan called for 3.5 miles of running today. I just could not do it. I had to run my 6 mile loop. My legs were sore. My quads were sore and my right calf area was quite tender. I knew that a little foam roller action this morning would bring tears to my eyes as I rolled out the pain(it hurt like posion arrow darts being shot into my eyeballs). I knew that a 6 mile run would help me out.

So that is what I did. I don't feel like I over ran this morning. We ran nice and easy at a 8:07 pace. I was able to stretch at Hy-Vee around mile 3 and by the end of the run I felt so much better. It was just what I needed.

Don't worry I am not running 6 miles on Thursday. I will adhere to the training taper plan and run just a few short miles. I am stupid, but not that stupid.

In the meantime I hope my bike is ready tomorrow. I need to get in at least two short rides by Friday. I sent Boris The Funkasaurus in to get all cleaned and checked out before the race. It was in need of some tender love and care.

The key for me this week is eating. I have consumed more food in the last two days than what I eat in a week. Sunday was my cheat day after the half marathon. Yesterday I just lost all self control when I got home from school. Stress will do that to you. I will be alright if I can maintain self control the rest of the week. My weigh in today was not good. I am back to hovering around 209-210 lbs. My goal was 200 lbs so that is not going to happen. At this point it is all about getting my body and mind ready for the weekend. Weight is nothing to worry about at this point as it is just an unwanted stress element.

Big day today. Will report on things later when the time is right. Until then, enjoy this beautiful weather. I am off to meet Dr. Walden tonight to get this body ready to rock this weekend in my super tight tri suit. I cannot believe I am wearing that thing in public!!
